About

NRITHYA SANGEETH nestled in the suburbs of Chicago, stands as a beacon of Bharatanatyam (Nrithya) and Carnatic vocal music (Sangeeth) education. Founded in 2007, the school is dedicated to imparting a comprehensive understanding of these South Indian performing arts, nurturing holistic artistes in the process.

The school conducts regular classes throughout the academic year, from September to May, at its dedicated studio. Beyond routine instruction, Nrithya Sangeeth enriches its curriculum with specialized camps and workshops helmed by accomplished dancers and choreographers from India, enhancing students’ proficiency both during the school year and through summer sessions.

The school’s impact transcends mere education; it fosters a deep-seated passion for Bharatanatyam and appreciation of our culture that extends far beyond the arangetram, the traditional debut solo performance. Many alumni continue their artistic journey, performing, teaching, and contributing to the community.

Dedicated to cultural enrichment, Nrithya Sangeeth actively participates in local cultural and community events year-round, showcasing its students’ talents. The pinnacle of each academic year culminates in the Spring Showcase, where every student takes center stage.

The school has brought several dancers to stage, and instilled in them a sincere interest for this ancient art form that stretches beyond the arangetram. Many of the students continue to learn and perform and even provide teaching assistance.

Recognizing excellence, senior students journey to India during the Margazhi season for solo performances, embodying the school’s commitment to global artistic exchange.
